PODD 2-Day Introductory Course
This 2 day course provides an overview of key considerations for the development and use of Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) communication systems.
Description
The introductory workshop introduces PODD communication system including the theory, strategies and practices that support the design, production and implementation of robust communication systems to enable genuine communication at any time. The workshop covers in-depth information for practitioners who will be designing and customising PODD communication books for specific individuals who can point to displays.
Course aim
This course will discuss the teaching and learning strategies for implementing PODD communication systems.
You will learn
- The challenges faced when creating communication systems in relation to vocabulary organisation, layout, design and a range of access strategies.
- The importance of receptive language input and of creating a language learning environment.
- The features of a PODD communication system, including vocabulary organisation, layout, design and access strategies which can be used to customise a PODD system for an individual.
- How to use PODD generic template resources to produce customised communication books.
Session outline
The course will be delivered face-to-face across 2 days.
Each day will run 9:00am-5:00pm.
Participants will be required to attend both full days to receive their completion certificate.
This course is delivered face-to-face by certified PODD Trainers.
Course includes
Participants are given the opportunity to explore a range of PODD communication systems across both days.
A participant manual is provided to support learning content.
