Implementing the Pragmatics Profile (D)

Understand the principles of the Pragmatics Profile for people who use AAC and how this valuable tool can be used to support the communication skill development of people who use AAC.

Description

This course will provide an overview of the Pragmatics Profile for people who use AAC. It will support participants to administer the profile and evaluate findings to inform AAC interventions.

Course aim

To understand the rationale for the development of the Pragmatics Profile for people who use AAC and apply to an individual you work with.

You will learn

To describe a person's functional communication skills.

To use the Pragmatics Profile for People who use AAC to identify relevant communication targets.

To plan targeted activities to enable communication skill development.

To consider ways in which progress can be measured.

IPAACKS competencies

This course covers skills related to Assessment, Implementation and Review for people using AAC.

Session outline

Session 1: Explores the origins of the profile, who it is suitable for and what information it provides.

Session 2: Evaluates a completed profile and shows how this can be used to determine targets for communication skill development.

Course includes

2 teacher-supported webinars.

3 months access to additional learning content and resources within our Moodle online learning system.
